History of Bingo
Bingo first appeared in the U.S. in the
early 1800s and rapidly grew in popularity as time went
by. It is a direct descendant of lottery-type games
and its history can be traced back to 15th century Italy.
It was the British gaming act of 1960 that first authorised
the opening of commercial bingo clubs across the United
Kingdom, and though the illegal form of the game had
flourished before that time, it was this act that marked
bingos introduction in to mainstream culture.
Bingo is now played legally in America, Australia,
New Zealand, The Isle of man, South Africa and Gibraltar
amongst other places.
